Ceramic Coatings for the Best Paint Protection
If you are looking for the best protection for your car’s painted surfaces, headlights, black piano trim, or on a vehicle’s wrap or PPF then a ceramic coating is your best option. We offer ceramic coatings for detailing professionals and car enthusiasts alike and have several ceramic coatings that are easy to use, won’t break the bank, and can be used on cars, boats, motorcycles, jet skis, and more!
What is a Ceramic Coating?
A ceramic coating is a semi-permanent or permanent protective layer most commonly made from SiO2 (Silica Dioxide) but can also contain other substances like graphene, fluorine, titanium dioxide (TiO2), and several others. These chemicals add a layer of clear protection to the surface they are applied to and bond to the substrate they are layered on, which is much like adding a secondary clear coat to a vehicle. A ceramic coating is a much more durable and long-lasting paint protection than carnauba wax or paint sealant. While traditional waxes have been around for decades they are very limited in performance and offer no advantages to today’s modern ceramic coatings.
What are the Benefits of Ceramic Coatings?
Ceramic coatings offer many benefits that car waxes and paint sealants cannot. Ceramic coatings can last for years with some lasting as long as 8 years if they are maintained correctly while traditional waxes last weeks to maybe a couple of months. The other benefit of a ceramic coating is its extreme hydrophobic properties to help repel water, mud, snow, salt, and more, making them easier to clean and maintain. Sometimes this is labeled as “self-cleaning properties” but mostly that just means they are easier to wash and maintain. Ceramic coatings also offer enhanced gloss and slickness that most carnauba waxes and paint sealants cannot touch. A fresh coat of wax might feel slick for a couple of weeks but once it is hit by rain and other elements it can fail quickly unlike a ceramic coating that can feel slick and shine like a diamond for much longer. Overall the benefits of a ceramic coating are untouchable by other forms of paint protection.
Additional Benefits of Ceramic Coatings:
- UV Protection
- Years of Durability
- Long Term Cost-Effectiveness
- Easy to Clean & Maintain
- Strong Chemical Resistance
- Extreme Water Beading and Hydrophobic Properties
How Long Do Ceramic Coatings Last?
Today’s new and modern ceramic coatings and graphene coatings can last up to 10 years depending on the type of coating, how it is maintained, how well the coating was installed, and many other environmental factors. Overall, most ceramic coatings that come in a glass bottle will last for 2 to 3 years and can exceed that if they are garage-kept and washed regularly with high-quality car shampoos, wash mitts, and dried with quality drying towels. Hand washing a ceramic-coated vehicle is key as a tunnel wash and automatic car wash can destroy a coating from the mechanical abrasion of brushes and extremely strong chemicals a car wash traditionally uses. Maintaining a ceramic coating can be simple if you routinely hand wash the vehicle and use a drying aid or ceramic topper to add additional protection to your coating. Using a drying aid also prevents scratching during the drying stage and can go a long way in having your coating last for years as the manufacturer claims.
